School Arrival and Dismissal Routine

If there is a change to your child's transportation routine at the end of the day, please provide a note for your child's teacher or call the school before 1:00 p.m.

Please note that doors open and teacher supervision of children begins at 8:55 a.m. Children should not be dropped off before this time.

Bussing

Several busses serve our school for the morning and afternoon. Students are supervised while exiting the busses upon arrival at school each day, and during dismissal. The bus parking lot on the back of the school is for busses only and not to be used for dropping off or picking up students. Student safety is a major concern of everyone and every effort is made to ensure the safety of all children in our care.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

To ensure that all students are safe on our premises, please note the following parking lot protocol when dropping off or picking up children at Bay Roberts Primary.

We have limited parking for staff at the school and there is only one lane for traffic around the building; therefore, we ask that parents not arrive at school for drop off before 8:50 a.m. for arrival and before 3:00 p.m. for dismissal.

Parents/Guardians are to pick up or drop off children via the main front entrance so children are not walking in the bus parking lot (on the back of school) unsupervised at this busy time. At Bay Roberts Primary, parents can park on the front parking lot and then escort their child to the main entrance or proceed to drive all the way around the school and drop off students at the main front entrance from your vehicle. Teachers will be supervising these areas during the entire dismissal process. There are to be no students dropped off at school using the front parking lot without a parental escort at any time. It creates a very serious safety concern where students are walking in front of cars unsupervised and can quite easily lead to serious injury. While we understand that slow moving traffic can be frustrating for some people, it is important to remain patient while driving. The picking up and dropping off process can take between 5-25 minutes so have patience. Please keep in mind student safety is always kept at the forefront at our school. The RCMP will be monitoring our parking lots to ensure safe driving practices are being followed. Please ensure you do not block the drive-through area or park in a no-parking zone.

We would appreciate your cooperation with these important matters.
